Last week’s ride was rained off (we had to change the route to find shelter from the very heavy and very cold rain) and so we didn’t make it to Meadow Lea for lunch as planned.
So we have decided not to do the route we originally planned for this week from Port Sunlight to Hooton via Burton Manor, but instead repeat last week’s route from Hooton to Meadow Lea via Saughall and hope for better weather this time (we don’t think it could be worse).
Therefore the start of this ride will NOT be at Port Sunlight station, but from outside Hooton Station instead.
The ride is just under 38 miles long, mostly flat, with one small short hill by Vauxhall near the end. The ride leader will be Clare Procter assisted by Sue Hughes.
We will meet by the entrance to Hooton station at 09:45 for a 10:00 start and we will go out through Hooton village, down to North Road, then across to Rossmore and Great Sutton, past Capenhurst station, then down to Dunkirk and along the A5117 cycle path before turning South to Saughall. From there onto the Chester Greenway at Blacon as far as Lime Wood Fields, then South to Piper’s Ash, Littleton and Christleton, turning North at Brown Heath through Guilden Sutton and on to Meadow Lea for lunch. After lunch we will return via Mickle Trafford, Bridge Trafford and Thornton-le-moors, then through Ellesmere Port (where there is the option to go for the train at Ellesmere Port station) and on past Vauxhall to Hooton Station.
Here is the route on Komoot Hooton to Meadow Lea via Saughall and on Garmin Connect: Hooton to Meadow Lea via Saughall
