Route planned by Michael Phillips, a member of the – please speak or email Rob Holmes for further details.
We will be meeting at the Worcester City Centre Premier Inn (WR2 4RL) – (by the Bridge)
Arrive by 9:45am – for a 10:00am departure.
This is the most challenging of the rides and a good level of fitness will be required. There are lots of hills!
This ride is about 51 miles, & approximately 2900 ft of climbing.
The route initially follows the Malvern Pedway alongside the river Severn, going South before turning West to Lower Wick. We will quickly be into the countryside and starting to climb. Around the Knapp and Papermill nature reserve, Suckley we will look for a place to stop for a banana break. After that, some serious climbing begins and continues (with some good downhills included) for about 10 miles to Clifton upon Teme. Then comes a nice 2 mile descent followed by a shorter but sobering rise. Just past Martley we will be stopping for lunch at The Cob House Country Park and Mayfly Café.
After lunch there is an alternative shorter route back (14 mile less) for those whose legs are feeling the hills or possibly those at the Jcn.6 Premiere Inn who would otherwise have a 63 mile route. The rest will travel North Easterly through Wichenford, Holt Heath and around Obersley before turning South and entering Worcester at it’s North end. In Worcester we will join the East bank of the River Severn before crossing over to the West bank to arrive back at the Premier Inn.

Neither Mark Burrows or anyone from WCG has been able to recce this route. We do expect that Michael Phillips & possibly a couple riders from the Worcester Meercat Wheeler could join us & assist with local knowledge.
