Extra Friday (Hilly ish WotR training)

10:00 Friday June 3 2022

Current Participants: 2 space(s) available

So this is a slightly easier Friday ride after a rather too hilly training ride last time, a bit more distance at 60 miles, but much less steep, though not easy.

So for a change it’s a Bache Station start (at bottom of platform ramp for 10:06 when the train arrives – if you’ve been in Morrisons cafe!). For anyone on a Merseytravel pass it’s the first permitted train from Birkenhead Central at 9:37 obviously any staion in between and Hooton is best for plentiful and cheap parking!

The ride will be just about 60 miles, so it’s just over 30 mile out, 28 ish back.

Outbound route is to Christleton, Waverton, Tattenhall then climbing up Harthill (on the easier Bolesworth route) down across the A534 then A41 towards Tilston, back across the A41 and looping back towards Bickerton, back across A534 and up to Harthill again (via the flatter diagonal route) short descent to turn to climb finally into Burwardsley and the Poffee cafe (Picnic benches at Village Hall next door).

Our return is a big loop is back to Hooton Station (or E. Port station ~24m) route is via Beeston Castle, Tarporley, Utkinton, Willington, Oscroft, Dunham, Hayrack, E.Port, Little Sutton and Hooton.

Neil’s Friday rides in general :-

These are an occasional Friday ride for those who want to go a bit faster, maybe that bit further, or a bit higher (but usually only 2 of the 3), the idea being to encourage those WCG members who are already happy on club rides to push themselves that little bit more.
My rides are less urban and therefore have less hanging around for regrouping, that small difference limits group stops/chatting and so gives a faster average, and so we get away further – talking isn’t forbidden but you do have to ride and talk (difficult for some I know…)

The rides in general will be around 50+ mile round trips, lunch generally beyond half way, usually at a cafe, mostly with picnic option somewhere nearby. Destination suggestions are welcome.
