This is a ride for people who have not previously ridden with the Wirral Cycling Group, so that they can get experience of riding with our group and we can assess their requirements and, if they want to join us, allocate them to the group best suited to their availability and location.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a maximum of six participants on this ride
You must not join a ride if you or anyone in your household is experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms or if you have been advised to self-isolate
The ride will start at 10 am, but aim to be there ten minutes beforehand just in case you get delayed. The ride leader, John Hampson, will be outside the Birkenhead Park Visitor Centre entrance on Park Drive from 9:45.

On this ride we will stop after seven miles to check how everyone is doing and for the ‘banana’ break (other fruit is acceptable). We will stop at fifteen miles (around 11:45) for a snack at Tanskey’s café; they have an outside area so we can comply with the Covid-19 restrictions. We will stop on the way back after twenty miles for five to ten minutes to get our breath back for the final leg.
If you haven’t ridden in a group before, don’t worry; we will explain what we do and how it is different from riding on your own before we start. And in particular don’t be concerned about the pace of the ride and not being able to keep up; the ride leader will adjust the pace of the ride to suit the group as we go along. And we always have an official back marker; so no one will get left behind.
