This ride is only open to members of the Wirral Cycling Group.  If you are an experienced rider who has ridden with other cycling groups and would like to join us on a ride, then please get in touch with us via the <Contact Form> so we can make arrangements.  If you have not ridden with a cycling group before, and would like to find out what riding with our group is like, then please book onto one of our monthly rides for newcomers.

Peter W (C/D)- Red Rooms to Quirky Cafe Hoylake

      Distance The ride is 33 miles in total, going out via Prenton, Lever Causeway, Pensby, Irby, Caldy, West Kirby to Hoylake. Distance to lunch 17.8 miles. This ride will be a Grade C – D ride. We will be stopping at the Quirky Cafe in Hoylake. After lunch we have a number of options for returning to Red Rooms depending upon the weather and the fitness level. We can do the North Wirral coast around to Seacombe and back to Red Rooms via Birkenhead park and over the Prenton ridge 33 miles in total, as per Komoot route.

      This ride can be cut short for individuals or the group we can return when we get to Leasowe lighthouse or any number of other places on the proposed route. 

      Meeting We will be meeting at Red Rooms (Golf Shop Arrowe Park)  at 10:30 for a 10:45 depart.

      Possible obstacles The course today is mainly flat and on paved roads, with possible sand when we are negotiating the sea wall.

      Lunch will be at Quirky Cafe, 0786380934 Hoylake (about 1 pm) I have booked three tables, I am currently trying to negotiate a £6 meal deal. (trays of sandwiches a slice of cake and a hot / cold drink) Preferably the tables outside, but this is dependent upon the weather. Should you have any dietary needs then please phone the cafe and make your own individual arrangements.

      Hazards Riding a bicycle on public roads is inherently a risk, you can mitigate those risks by being aware of other road users and anticipating their likely actions.

      After Lunch I will be returning back to Red Rooms via Meols and North Wirral coastline.

      Trains There are frequent trains Wirral Line from West Kirby 19, 39, 58 min past ,should you wish to leave the ride early or use as part of your return journey.
