Current Participants: 0 space(s) available

      Newcomers’ Ride:

This is a ride for people who have not previously ridden with the Wirral Cycling Group, so that they can get experience of riding with our group and we can assess their requirements and, if they want to join us, allocate them to the group best suited to their availability and location.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a maximum of six participants on this ride

You must not join a ride if you or anyone in your household is experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms or if you have been advised to self-isolate

The ride will be just over 25 miles long, Grade C, starting at 10 am from outside the Tudor Rose Tea Rooms opposite Port Sunlight railway station.  Trains arrive at Port Sunlight from Hamilton Square at 9:46 and from Hooton at 9:52 on Sunday mornings.  The ride leader will be John Hampson and he will be at the start from 9:45.  We aim to be back at Port Sunlight between 13:30 and 14:00.

Click on the following links if you would like to see the route on Komoot: Port Sunlight to Burton, Brimstage and Bebington  or on Garmin Connect: Port Sunlight to Burton, Brimstage and Bebington (they are both free to use).

Before the ride, check out our Website for advice on taking part in one of our rides and for some tips on group riding from Cycling UK: https://wirralcycling.org/participation/

We will go out along the cycle track to the New Chester Road, then through Bromborough and Willaston and Burton before a short break by Burton Marsh.  Then through Neston, along Parkgate Parade then on to lunch at the Village Hall cafe in Thornton Hough.  We will return to Port Sunlight via Brimstage, Storeton, Rock Ferry and Bebington.

If you haven’t ridden in a group before, don’t worry; we will explain what we do and how it is different from riding on your own before we start.  And in particular don’t be concerned about the pace of the ride and not being able to keep up; the ride leader will adjust the pace of the ride to suit the group as we go along.  And we always have an official back marker; so no one will get left behind.

Bookings no longer allowed on this date.
