Before you join the ride please make sure that your bicycle is safe and roadworthy GCN’s 6 Checks Before You Ride and that you have read Cycling UK’s advice on riding in a group .

On the day we suggest that you should bring:

  • wet weather wear and warm clothing
  • a spare inner tube, a pump  and tyre levers
  • some food and drink to keep you going
  • money for emergencies (and possibly lunch)
  • a mobile phone

and that you should carry details of your address and an emergency telephone contact number, just in case.

Distance The ride is  24.2 miles out to Yvonne’s Cafe in Connor Quay and will be a Grade C ride. With a return route back to Red Rooms of 13.2 miles. 37.4 in total.

Meeting We will be meeting at Red Rooms Arrowe Park (Golf shop) at 10:30 for a 10:45 depart.

Possible obstacles The route is fairly flat the only area’s of concern are crossing and riding on the busy main roads where we will use the crossing Island or the traffic lights when available.

Route is available on Komoot Red Rooms to Yvonne’s Cafe The return route is via Deeside and the Burton Marsh Yvonne’s to Red room

Lunch will be at Yvonne’s (about 1.15) which we as a group have visited on a number of times over recent years, I have booked three tables, preferably outside but this is dependent upon the weather. Should you have any dietary needs then please phone the cafe and make your own individual arrangements.

Hazards Riding a bicycle on public roads is inherently a risk, you can mitigate those risks by being aware of other road users and anticipating their likely actions.

After Lunch I will be returning back to Red Rooms via Burton Marshes and Neston.

Trains There is a train station in Shotton 14,01 or  15.01 that will return you to the Wirral so I would advise you to bring money, (train costs approx £7.00),  for both your lunch and the train should you choose to use them. Departs Shotton at 01 min past the hour every hour.
