This ride is only open to members of the Wirral Cycling Group.  If you are an experienced rider who has ridden with other cycling groups and would like to join us on a ride, then please get in touch with us via the <Contact Form> so we can make arrangements.  If you have not ridden with a cycling group before, and would like to find out what riding with our group is like, then please book onto one of our monthly rides for newcomers.

(B-) from Pier Head Liverpool to Ellesmere Port via Dutton

    This is a grade B minus ride starting at the Pier Head Liverpool at 10am after the arrival of the 9.40 ferry from Birkenhead Woodside. It is a B- ride due to the distance to E Port station of 48 miles plus some hills after lunch.  Ride pace will be normal for a C ride.

    Lunch will be taken at the Bluebell Cottage Gardens nursery where there is a small cafe serving tea, coffee & cakes (no hot food or sandwiches ).  Its fine for us to take our own sandwiches to enjoy with the tea & cake.

    Its 28 miles to lunch & the route to Dutton is via Otterspool, Hale, Pickerings Pasture, Runcorn Bridge and Bridgewater Canal, so we should arrive circa 1pm / 1.15.

    Following lunch we go via Dutton locks, Delamere Forest (on road ), Dutton on the Hill & the A5117 bridleway to E Port station; 20 miles to reach 48 on day.

    There are significant off road sections including canal towpath & other bridleways.
