(C) Tour of Liverpool's Parks

10:00 Sunday October 2 2022

Current Participants: 11 space(s) available

This is a Grade C ride of 32 miles, mostly on quiet streets, but also along shared paths across the many parks of Liverpool, so take care to avoid pedestrians and dogs; we will be travelling slowly in those areas.

John Hampson the ride leader will be at the start next to the Beatles’ statue at the Pier Head by 09:45.

The route goes out via the Albert Dock along Jamaica Street and Grafton Street and past St Michael’s station before dropping down through the Festival Gardens to Otterspool Promenade.  Then all the way along the promenade to Grassenden with a loop back to the riverside around Cressington before crossing Aigburth Road to go up Garston Old Road, Greenhill Road and Booker Avenue to Calderstones Park. Then down through Allerton across Penny Lane, through Greenbank Park and a quick loop around the south of Sefton Park before stopping for a quick break by the Eros Fountain in the centre of the park.

We then go North West to Prince’s Park and across Crown Street Park (the site of Liverpool’s first railway station) past Kensington Park and Phythian Park to Newsham Park and out to Croxteth Hall Park.    The return trip goes along the Liverpool loop Line to Walton Hall Park, then across Anfield cemetery to Stanley Park  where will stop for lunch between 1:30 and 2 pm.  Then through the park at Everton Brow (with a quick stop to look at the incredible view of the City), before riding through the University and the Georgian Quarters, through the grounds of the Anglican Cathedral, through Chinatown, and back to the Pier Head.
