(B-) Boat Museum to Liverpool via Runcorn bridge

10:30 Sunday October 16 2022

Current Participants: 10 space(s) available

This is a B- grade ride starting at 10.30am from Boat Museum, Ellesmere Port & led by Andy Mace.

Lunch will be at the West Bank Boat club cafe about 2pm.  We will stop at Dutton locks in case anyone wishes to have a quick snack (bring own) bearing in mind the 2pm lunch!

The ride pace will be usual for a C ride but the distance combined with a few hills merits the B rating.  There is q a lot of off road such as Bridgewater canal, but our group riders have used road bikes on this ride before.

From Boat Museum we take Industrial estate to Dunham, Mouldsworth, Delamere (on tarmac road ) and Hatchmere to our snack stop by the Dutton Locks.  Next we take some mixed bridleways for just over a mile to Aston. Then Preston Brook to join Bridgewater canal, over Runcorn Bridge on a dedicated cycle path to lunch at Spike Island near the Wigan canal & Catalyst Museum.  Distance to lunch is 28 miles.

Following lunch we will ride to Pickerings Pasture, Hale, Speke airport to Otterspool and on cycleway to either Pier Head or James St station.  Distance is 16 miles.  Total ride distance is 44 miles.
