For those on the Wirral, getting to Liverpool would probably mean using a Merseyrail Saveaway ticket, Merseyrail Pass, or the Mersey Ferry. (e.g. the 0931am train from Bromborough arrives at 0954am at James Street. However, we’ll wait for the next train arriving at 1010am).

This ride is similar to last year’s ride, with a few minor changes.

Leaving Pier Head, we make our way past Albert Dock and along the front, turning left before the Liverpool Yacht Club and onto Grafton Street, before dropping down to the Festival Site and Otterspool promenade. At Grassendale we continue to Cressington Park, then up to Aigburth Road. We cycle through Garston village, turn right, cycle past the St Michael’s Church and onto Garston Shore Road. We then cycle through the Estuary Business Park and onto Speke Hall for a short stop.

From Speke Hall, we retrace our steps and make our way towards Hunts Cross via Woodend Avenue, turning up Speke Road, past Woolton golf course and onto Woolton village. We cycle up Church Road, stopping at St Peter’s Church and again at Reynolds Park. We then drop down to Woolton Road and cycle down Druids Cross Road and into Calderstones.Park for a café stop.

We then head to Rose Lane, Briardale Road and Penny Lane, onto Greenbank Park, then Sefton Park, and out past Belvidere school into Princes Park. We then head along the cycle path on Prince’s Boulevard to Parliament Street. We cross over and cycle through the Georgian Quarter before cycling down Duke Street, through China Town and onto the Strand for James Street or Pier Head.
