This is ride is open to all members of the group, but is also suitable for people who have not previously ridden with a cycling group, so that they can get experience of riding with a group and so we can assess their requirements and advise them on how to continue.

Don't worry that you haven’t ridden in a group before, there is nothing difficult; we will explain what we do and how riding in a group is different from riding on your own before we start.  And in particular, don’t be concerned about the pace of the ride and not being able to keep up; the ride leader will adjust the pace of the ride to suit the group as we go along.  And we always have an official back marker; so no one will get left behind.

Before the ride, check out the page on our website about taking part in one of our rides "Taking Part", and take a look at the Advice from Cycling UK on riding in a group.  If you are new to riding with a group, please arrive 15 minutes before the advertised start time, so that the ride leader can brief you on how to ride safely with a group of other riders.

You must not join a ride if you or anyone in your household is experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms
or if you have been advised to self-isolate

CANCELLED (Only Ken and I booked on)

The ride will start at 10:00 from outside Moreton railway station (but on the North side of the station, alongside the Birkenhead-bound platform; as shown on the map below).  On Sunday morning trains arrive at Moreton from Hamilton Square at 9:24 and 9:54 and from West Kirby at 9:41.  The ride leader, John Hampson, will be there from 09:45.

The route is 25 miles long, Grade C or D depending upon who joins the ride, so we can expect to be back at Moreton station between 14:00 and 14:30.  Click on this link: Moreton to West Kirby via Tranmere if you would like to see the route on Komoot.

We will travel to out along the Birkett Path to Bidston Golf Course, then along the paths behind B&Q and the Wallacre to Wallasey Breck, and on through Central Park to Egremont Promenade.  Then down the side of the River Mersey, past Seacombe and Woodside ferries and Camell Laird shipyards, before going up through Tranmere, past Mersey Park, Victoria Park and Prenton Park to Prenton Hill.  Then down the hill again and across Duck Pond Lane Park, before crossing the River Fender to Woodchurch.   We will stop for a quick break in Arrowe Park, before pressing on through Greasby and Frankby and around the North East of West Kirby, before turning North to Hoylake and our stop for lunch at the Maple Gardens cafe.  Then back along Carr Lane and Town Meadow Lane for the return to Moreton railway station.
