This ride is only open to members of the Wirral Cycling Group.  If you are an experienced rider who has ridden with other cycling groups and would like to join us on a ride, then please get in touch with us via the <Contact Form> so we can make arrangements.  If you have not ridden with a cycling group before, and would like to find out what riding with our group is like, then please book onto one of our monthly rides for newcomers.

(C) Port Sunlight to Barrow via Plemstall

    This is a 40mile total grade C ride nearly all on tarmac and quite roads/ lanes. There are a few hills- 856 ft total ascent.

    David Brewer will be ride leader. Start point is Port Sunlight meeting at 09:45 for a 10:00 start

    The route is via the railway path to Eastham, Childer Thornton, Little Sutton, Capenhurst, Dunkirk, A5117 cycle path, Little Stanney, The Rake, past Chester Zoo, Acres Lane, Mickle Trafford and onto Plemstall. We will visit St. Peter’s church and Plegmund’s well. Lunch at Meadow Lea. Then onto Barrow – we will visit St Bartholomew’s Church and head home via Dunham on the Hill, Thornton le Moors (St. Mary’s Church), Ellesmere Port, Vauxhalls, Eastham, Bromborough back to Port Sunlight.

    Lunch will be at Meadow Lea coffee shop/ cafe. 

    The route returns to the start but we will go back via Ellesmere Port station for anyone wanting to shorten the ride and get the train from there.
