(C+) Port Sunlight to Tanskeys, West Kirby

10:00 Sunday April 16 2023

Current Participants: 3 space(s) available

Grade C+ ride, 37 miles, from Port Sunlight station to Tanskey’s at West Kirby, then returning to Port Sunlight. Led by Dave Branch. Start time 10.00, please arrive by about 9.45.

The ride has a few well known uphill tugs and will be at a reasonable pace, hence the C+ grade. It will be a good test for those going / thinking of going to Shrewsbury of where our climbing legs are at and give us time to do something about it!

The route will take us from Port Sunlight up through Bebington (via Red Hill) to Thornton Hough, Raby, Willaston along Hadlow Road to Burton. We’ll stop at the Marsh for a break before climbing Denhall Lane, after descending to Parkgate up Boathouse Lane to Gayton and then up Thurstaston Road through Heswall. After taking the cycle path along Telegraph road descend to Wirral Way at Thurstaston making our way to West Kirby for lunch (26 or so miles)

After lunch, for those not making their way home (under own steam or from WK station) we’ll climb Grange Road to the beacon, Montgomery Hill to Royden Park and then up to Irby Mill. From Pensby we’ll go to Barnston and back to Bebington / PS via Rest Hill (or Red Hill again if people wish !)
