In this section:
- This is a 27 mile tour of South Wirral Pubs. Note it is NOT a pub crawl but a ride stopping at some interesting and historic pubs and viewing them externally. There are a few hills but we have lots of stops – it will be nominally a D ride but could speed up to C if desired.
- David Brewer will be Ride Leader and we will start from Port Sunlight at 10:00. Please get there a bit earlier for the briefing.
- The route will be down the railway path to Eastham (viewing:- Tap; Eastham Ferry; Hooton Arms; Montgomery), onto Childer Thornton (Royal Hotel; Halfway House; Rifleman Arms – site of; White Lion), Hooton, Willaston (Nag’s Head; Red Lion; Pollards Inn), Burton (it had 5 Inns in 1561 but all closed by 1860- we will view the houses which were pubs), Little Neston (Harp Inn), Neston (Coach and Horses; Brown Horse Inn; White Horse Inn; Greenland Fishery; Brewer’s Arms), Parkgate (Old Quay, Mostyn Arms; Talbot Inn; Ship Inn; Red Lion; Boat House); Thornton Hough (Seven Stars); Raby (Wheatsheaf); Eastham (Argyle); Bromborough (Merebrook; Archers; Bromborough) Port Sunlight (Bridge Inn). See Garmin course Garmin Connect and Komoot Komoot
- Lunch will be at the Thornton Hough Village Hall Coffee Shop.
- The route returns to Port Sunlight station. The route is on tarmac throughout. There are some busy roads in Neston and Parkgate where we will have to be careful and split up. Another historic tour – which I hope you will find of interest!
