Grade C (back by popular demand). This is a 40 mile tour around Cheshire stopping at eight remarkable parish churches in different villages ranging from Bunbury in the east to Farndon in the south. There are a few hills around Beeston castle, but much of the route is flat on quiet country lanes.
David Brewer is the ride leader. Meeting start and end point is Chester railway station. 10:11 start time (to suit train arrival time from Liverpool Wirral Line).
From Chester station we head out on the canal tow path to Christleton (St James); then all on country lanes to:- Waverton (St Peters); Hargrave (St Peters); past Beeston Castle; Bunbury (St Boniface) ; Tattenhall (St Alban’s)- Lunch ; Farndon (St Chad); Aldford (St John’s); and Bruera (St Mary the Virgin). We can visit inside some of the interesting churches- so it may be quite a long day with lots of stops. See:- Garmin Connect:-
Alison’s Country Kitchen in Tattenhall will be our lunch stop. I have been before and can highly recommend it. I have booked a table inside but we may be OK to be outside (first come basis). (Lunch venue changed to suit the ride distance better – 22 miles from start)
We return to Chester via Saighton.
