Lunch is planned for at English Heritage’s picnic site near the castle gate. There are plenty of picnic tables and you can bring your own food (it is allowed!). There is also a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks; soup; sausage rolls and pasties. Old Ma’s cafe on Newton Lane after Ice Cream Factory and Junction is another alternative if it rains!
For a shorter ride back an alternative route is to Chester/ Chester Station and may be made by diverting at Saighton.
