A grade D ride of just under 25 miles, suitable for newcomers to our group, from Bromborough Railway Station to Nets Cafe via Bromborough Village, Port Sunlight, Storeton, up Landican Lane to Thingwall, Pensby and Heswall, then down to Parkgate and Neston before stopping for lunch at Nets Cafe by Burton Marshes. NB: There are no facilities for eating your own food at Nets cafe, but their food is excellent and good value for money. There are some seats on Station Road overlooking the marsh about 1/3 mile further along the route where you can sit to eat your own food. There are some sections of the ride on compacted gravel (up Landican Lane and along the Wirral Way), but most of the ride is on paved roads. After lunch we will return to Bromborough Station via Burton, Willaston and Eastham.
The ride starts at 10:00 am from outside Bromborough Railway station on Allport Road. If you come by car don’t be tempted to leave your car in the Merebrook public house car park (you will get a hefty fine). The ride leaders (Sheila Coetzee and Janet Coventry) will be at the start from 09:45. Please aim get to the start early, as we will leave on the dot at 10:00.
