This ride is only open to members of the Wirral Cycling Group.  If you are an experienced rider who has ridden with other cycling groups and would like to join us on a ride, then please get in touch with us via the <Contact Form> so we can make arrangements.  If you have not ridden with a cycling group before, and would like to find out what riding with our group is like, then please book onto one of our monthly rides for newcomers.

(C) Wirral Lighthouses from Ellesmere Port to West Kirby

    This grade C ride is 35 miles long and starts outside Ellesmere Port Railway Station at 10:00.  John Hampson, the ride leader, will be at the start at 09:45.  The ride is mostly flat with just two proper hills at Bidston and West Kirby. 

    The route will take us to all the lighthouses, past and present, on the Wirral peninsular and is due to finish at West Kirby Railway Station between 15:00 and 16:00.

    3. The One o’Clock Gun (not a lighthouse)
    4. New Brighton Lighthouse
    5. The Lighthouse in Wallasey Village
    6. Bidston Lighthouse
    7. Upper Mockbeggar Lighthouse
    8. Lower Mockbeggar Lighthouse
    9. Lower Lake Lighthouse
    10. Upper Lake Lighthouse
    11. The Lighthouse at Red Rocks
    12. The Mariners’ Beacon at West Kirby

    … plus three bonus lighthouses at Hale Point, Point of Ayr and Hilbre Island (if it is a clear day and you bring binoculars)

    Lunch will be at Popsy’s Cafe in Hoylake, or by the Model Boating Lake if you bring your own lunch.
