(C) Way of the Roses: Morecambe to Bridlington over 4 Days

17:00 Sunday August 21 2022

Current Participants: 4 space(s) available

NB: Do not book a place on this ride, without also booking a place with Cycle Active for the ride itself:   Cycle Active 4-Day Silver

A number of people have expressed an interest in doing a coast-to-coast ride, so we plan to book places on two trips organised by Cycle Active that go from Morecambe to Bridlington along the Way of the Roses cycle route.

This is the second of those rides and involves covering the 170 miles in four days: the first ride covering the distance in three days starts on June 16th

We will meet in Morecambe on the evening of Sunday 21st August, where we will stay in B&B accommodation in Morecambe before setting off on Monday morning for the first day’s cycling of about 35 miles to Settle.  On the second day we will cycle 42 miles to Ripon, and on the third 50 less hilly miles to Pocklington.  On the final day we will ride 43 relatively flat miles, getting into Bridlington in the early afternoon.  From there we, and our bikes, will be taken back by Cycle Active to the start point, arriving in Morecambe at around 19:30 on Thursday 25th August.

The accommodation each night is organised by Cycle Active, and they will transport our luggage to the next B&B each day while we ride.  Their van and driver will be available to provide emergency mechanical breakdown should we need it.  Although the ride is organised by Cycle Active, we will travel together as a group with a ride leader and back-marker, as we would on our usual Wednesday and Sunday rides.  We will arrange our own lunches on the way and find suitable restaurants for our meals in the evening, or you can make your own arrangements.

The cost of the trip is £415 per person, assuming you are happy to share with another rider; having a room of your own costs an extra £150.  There is a non-refundable deposit of £100 payable when you book, with the balance payable 30 days before the date of the ride.   So we recommend that you have or take out holiday insurance to cover any cancellation.

As of 1st March, Cycle Active had 14 places available on this trip.  But those places are open to anyone, not just members of Wirral Cycling Group, so if you want to go on the trip then please make sure you book soon.  To book a place go to the Cycle Active website and select the 4-Day Silver option:  Cycle Active 4-Day Silver.   When you make the booking please enter “Wirral Cycling Group” into the Any Additional Information box at the bottom of the booking form; that will allow Cycle Active to see who is in our group and try to arrange our accommodation in the same B&B hotels.

If you do book the trip with Cycle Active, then please also make a booking on our website for this event; that way everyone can see who else from the Wirral Cycling Group will be on the trip.
