This is ride is open to all members of the Wirral Cycling Group, but is also suitable for people who have not previously ridden with a cycling group.  If you would like to join us on a ride, then book onto this ride using the form below, but please telephone or email the ride leader when you receive the booking confirmation to let them know about your experience and capabilities.
Before the ride, check out the page on our website about taking part in one of our rides "Taking Part", and read the Advice from Cycling UK on riding in a group.  If you are new to riding with a group, please arrive 15 minutes before the advertised start time, so that the ride leader can brief you on how to ride safely with a group of other riders.

If you have an underlying health condition which could flare up when cycling (such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, anaphylactic shock, heart issues, etc.), then it would be appreciated if you could disclose this to the ride leader (in confidence) prior to the start of the ride

(D) Port Sunlight to Burton, Brimstage and Bebington (suitable for newcomers)

10:00 Sunday January 25 2026

Current Participants: 6 space(s) available

    • This ride is just over 25 miles long, Grade D, starting from outside the Tudor Rose Tea Rooms opposite Port Sunlight railway station. There is one significant hill – a climb up Boat House Lane out of Parkgate (4% gradient)  but it is deemed suitable for newcomers as well as our regular WCG riders.
    • David Brewer will be Ride Leader. Please arrive in Port Sunlight at 0945 for a safety briefing ready for a 10:00 start.
    • The route goes out along the cycle track to the New Chester Road, then through Bromborough and Willaston and Burton before a short break by Burton Marsh.  Then through Neston, along Parkgate Parade and on to lunch provisionally at Brimstage (note  that the Courtyard cafe closed on 6/12/2025 but I hope a replacement will be open by our ride date – if not I will endeavour to  come up with an alternative).
    • Click on the following links if you would like to see the route on Komoot: Port Sunlight to Burton, Brimstage and Bebington  or on Garmin Connect: Port Sunlight to Burton, Brimstage and Bebington (they are both free to use).
    • We aim to be back at Port Sunlight after five hours (including stops for breaks and lunch), returning via Storeton, Rock Ferry and Bebington.
