This is a fast ride only suitable for people who can maintain a fast pace (15 to 20 mph) for a prolonged period of time.   
And please note that the pace will be above the legal maximum for electric assistance for the majority of the ride.

If you have an underlying health condition which could flare up when cycling (such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, anaphylactic shock, heart issues, etc.), then it would be appreciated if you could disclose this to the ride leader (in confidence) prior to the start of the ride

    Friday century ride (or not) starting at Burton Marsh gate 9am.

    Usual Century format of a ‘loop’ that needs making up to a century if you want to, indeed mileage is often more for some riders.

    This ride starts at the marsh gate at 9am and is also ending there and the loop is around 84miles.

    So this is another run out to Ellesmere mostly on a route we’ve used before, though on this occasion we are going via Dragon Bridge to pick up riders before doing the usual route of the river or greenway/Blacon (wind?) to cross the Dee and head up to the Hwb (16m) for breakfast at my ~quarter point 😉 then it’s off to Bangor on Dee, Duddleston Heath, Tetchill to Ellemere and the market hall for lunch at the foodhall (26m). A picnic nearby is possible with lots of shops nearby.

    Return is Hanmer, Worthenbury, Shocklach, Churton, Aldford, Saighton to Christleton Pond for the cakemobile (28m), then it’s Pearl Lane (to near Chester Station) onto the Greenway and back to to the marsh gate (13m).

    As ever the century is an aspiration and you are free to leave when you want (nearer home is best 😉 and do let me know!! but the loop gate to gate is 84m, if parking at the marsh a Chester bail out is possible but the Hooton train shortcut saves only about 5m if you have to get back to the gate for the car…

    As ever a ride of this length is very weather dependant, even if we start we can easily return from The Hwb by very familiar well used routes, going beyond Bangor on Dee is less well trodden ground (and hilly) so a turn there is also a good option 🙂
