Friday ride starting 10am from Station Master’s Cafe, Hadlow Rd. The café opens at 09:30 should nutrition be needed.
We’ll retry this ride but again the forecast is pretty bad so we’ll perhaps have to divert as last time or bail out along the way (or not start!).
I’ve been meaning to see where HMP Berwyn on the Wrexham Industrial Estate is for a good few years (1) and whilst I did a reccy yesterday I still somehow managed to miss it by probably half a kilometre (500yds in old money), oh and I missed the café too (2)… So basically I’m going to try again on Friday this time plotting a route right past it – I think…
Anyhow it’s 27m and 500 foot of climb out via Marshes, Dee, Bretton, Burton level crossing, Marford (hill), Borras Head (clue in the name) to the Wrexham Industrial Estate (makes DIP, Deeside Industrial Estate seem small) and a look at the prison on the off chance it has a inmate run café as these are very good in my experience (as a punter!) but if not an ordinary café (2) is nearby, as is a Greggs and a mini market.
Return is via Holt, Churton, Aldford, Bruera, Saighton, Huntington, Dee Banks, Chester station ish, Greenway, DIP to Burton Marsh gate. 24m 400 feet.

Forecast is rather mixed, first option is Burton Manor but then Net’s, Chapel, Walter’s, Hwb, OR even Hooton and home 🤣
(1) This ‘new’ prison apparently saved the Bidston Line, presumably as we have local families with the need to visit it on occasion.
(2) I rather bizarrely saw some cycling buddies who said the nearby cafe is/isn’t OK on a 50:50 split 😂
