The ride begins at 9:30 by the starting point of the Way of the Roses on the promenade at Morecambe.  Please be at the start by 09:15.  We will follow the Way of the Roses route for just over 13 miles to Gressingham (with a short break at Crook of Lune after 7.5 miles to admire the views of the river).   We then head north from Gressingham, up the valley of the River Lune to the Devil’s Bridge by Kirkby Lonsdale.  Then through Kirkby Lonsdale and over Toscal Hill for lunch at Kittriding Farm.

After lunch a mostly downhill stretch until we reach a very steep climb (250ft in 1/2 mile) over Farleton Knot by Newbiggin Crags.  By passing Burton-in-Kendal to the West, we then go through Priest Hutton and Borwick, up to Over Kellet, down to Halton and then over the last hill to Slyne  and along the the coast back to Morecambe.  We should be back at Morecambe between 15:00 and 15:30.

A Grade B ride of 48 miles, with 2,650 ft of elevation at an average speed of just under 11 mph.  All on good quality surfaces.  One short (1/2 mile), but very steep hill (10% to 15% in places)
