Wirral Cycling Group's Annual Cycling Trip

 
This is one of the rides in Wirral Cycling Group's annual trips and so places on this ride are reserved for paid-up members of Wirral Cycling Group.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ROUTES DESCRIBED BELOW ARE PROVISIONAL AND MAY CHANGED AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN RECONNOITRED.

They will, though, all start and finish in Morecambe and the grade and average speed will remain the same, but the total distance may vary a bit.

(B) Morecambe to Wyresdale

    The ride begins at 9:30 by the starting point of the Way of the Roses on the promenade at Morecambe.  Please be at the start by 09:15.

    Leaving Morecambe along Westgate and Mellishaw Lane to cross the Lune on the Millennium Bridge then up to Lancaster Castle.  Then south through Stodday to Glasson Dock for a quick break.   We then go South again to Cockerham and past Pilling and past Garstang to lunch at Scorton.

    After lunch we head up hill along Wyredale before heading North again to the University and up to the Williamson Memorial for spectacular views of Lancaster.  Then on across the Lune Aqueduct alongside the Lancaster canal as far as Torrisholme and back to Morecambe along Marine Road East and the promenade.

    We should be back in Morecambe between 14:30 and 15:00.

    A Grade B ride of 46 miles, with 1,400 ft of elevation at an average speed of just over 12 mph.  All on good quality surfaces.
