(C) Hooton to Meadow Lea

10:00 Wednesday January 7 2026

Current Participants: 6 space(s) available

This is a C ride of 38 miles, at a steady pace of 10/12 mph, all on roads and cycleways. It’s a relatively flat route with only 800ft of climbing, although there’s a short challenging climb near Chester Zoo.

The ride leader is Steve Downs. Start time is 10:00 at Hooton Railway Station, with a pre-ride briefing at 09:45.

The outward leg of 20 miles will take us from Hooton to Capenhurst, and on towards Cheshire Oaks where we’ll take country lanes to Chester Zoo and Mickle Trafford. We’ll then follow the A56 for a couple of miles, before taking quiet roads through Great Barrow, Guilden Sutton and Meadow Lea for lunch. Tables are reserved for lunch, and you can choose from the menu when we arrive, but if you have any allergies or specific food requirements please contact the cafe beforehand on 01244 300084.

The return leg after lunch is around 18 miles, along the Greenway to Deeside, Burton Marshes, up Mudhouse Lane and back to Hooton.
