(B) Hooton to Rose Farm, Utkinton via Whitegate Way

10:00 Wednesday May 6 2026

Current Participants: 14 space(s) available

This is a grade B ride, primarily due to the distance (52 miles) with c 1500 feet of climbing. We will run the ride at an average pace of 10 -12 mph. The ride will start from Hooton station and will be led by Dave Branch. This is great route originally designed by Ewan, which many of us did last summer.

We’ll set off at 10.15 with a 10 am briefing. Hopefully this allows those coming by train to use railcards.

The outbound route will take us through Little Sutton and Ellesmere Port, picking up the A5117 cycle path up to Thornton le Moors. We’ll proceed to Dunham on the Hill, Manley, Kingsley and Norley, before picking up the Whitegate Way (disused rail line similar to Wirral Way) for about 3 miles, leaving at Whitegate station. We’ll pass Oulton Park before climbing up to Rose Farm tea rooms at Utkinton for lunch. This will be after approximately 30 miles.

The return route will take us down Willington lane to Duddon, past Walk Mill to Waverton, Guilden Sutton and Mickle Trafford. Then past the rear of the zoo (downhill!) to climb back up to Backford, to take the gated path back to Capenhurst and Missing Link back to Hooton
