(C) Chester to Alyn Waters via Pulford

10:30 Sunday February 8 2026

Current Participants: 14 space(s) available

This ride is Grade C, 32 miles long, at an average speed of 10 to 11 mph, with a few relatively small hills (less than 1,000ft of climb in total).  We will leave from outside Chester Railway Station at 10:30.  John Hampson, the ride leader, will be there at 10:15 to give the ride briefing (Merseyrail permitting).

We will be travelling out of Chester via the Groves next to the River Dee, crossing the Old Dee Bridge to Handbridge and on to Ecclestone.  Then down to Pulford, before turning up again nearly to Marford, before passing Borras to skirt across the north of Wrexham, and then down to Alyn Waters for lunch.  There is a café and an outside area with benches of you want to bring your own food.  Some bits of the ride (about 1/2 mile) around Alyn Waters are on a gravel track; although we will divert along the road if the weather is wet or the track is too muddy.

After lunch we will return via Llay, Higher Kinnerton and Bretton to Saltney Ferry, then back along the River Dee to Chester.
