If you are an experienced rider who has ridden with other cycling groups and you would like to join us on a ride, then book onto this ride using the form below, but please telephone or email the ride leader when you receive the booking confirmation to let them know about your experience and capabilities. 
If you have not ridden with a cycling group before, and would like to find out what riding with our group is like, then please book onto one of Grade D rides which are suitable for newcomers.

If you have an underlying health condition which could flare up when cycling (such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, anaphylactic shock, heart issues, etc.), then it would be appreciated if you could disclose this to the ride leader (in confidence) prior to the start of the ride



(C) Capenhurst to Beeston Castle

    The distance is approximately 43 miles – 23 out and 20 back. A grade C  ride  (10 to 12 mph average) with a few significant hills- Chester Zoo , Beeston Castle & Backford  (1400 ft of climbing). No off road – tarmac only.

    David Brewer is Ride Leader.  Start point is Capenhurst Station. We will also return there.

    The route is out down Dunkirk Lane then east along A5117 cycle path to Little Stanney; then turn down  Rake Lane, Chorlton, past Chester Zoo (up the hill); left down Acres Lane; Mickle Trafford; Guilden Sutton; Christleton (banana stop); Waverton; Long Lane; Hargrave; Huxley; Bates Mill Lane; past Shady Oak pub;  up the long hill to Beeston Castle for lunch; Back via Newton; past Ice Cream Factory past Old Ma’s  re-opened cafe ;  Gatesheath; Bruera; Saighton; Waverton; GS; Mickle Trafford; up the hill to Backford  (7 gates cycle path) and then Dunkirk.

    Lunch is  planned for at English Heritage’s picnic site near the castle gate. There are plenty of picnic tables and you can bring your own food (it is allowed!). There is also a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks; soup; sandwiches,  sausage rolls and pasties.

    F0r a shorter ride back an alternative  route is  to Chester/ Chester Station  and may be made by diverting at  Saighton.
