If you are an experienced rider who has ridden with other cycling groups and you would like to join us on a ride, then book onto this ride using the form below, but please telephone or email the ride leader when you receive the booking confirmation to let them know about your experience and capabilities. 
If you have not ridden with a cycling group before, and would like to find out what riding with our group is like, then please book onto one of Grade D rides which are suitable for newcomers.

If you have an underlying health condition which could flare up when cycling (such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, anaphylactic shock, heart issues, etc.), then it would be appreciated if you could disclose this to the ride leader (in confidence) prior to the start of the ride



WCG C Ride – Annual Club "Afternoon Tea at the Park" social group ride – West Kirby to Thurstaston visitor centre.

    This is a summer social event based – multiple rides will converge on Thurstaston visitor centre, culminating in a pre-ordered lunch at the Whistlestop Cafe.

    This ride is a C ride of 40 miles, with around 1,000 feet of climb.

    Meeting at West Kirby Railway Station at 09:30 for a 09:45 depart.

    Route Out Across the top of the Wirral to New Brighton, then Seacombe, through New ferry to Port Sunlight, Raby Mere, Raby, Thornton Hough, towards Parkgate, Wirral Way to Thurstaston visitor centre (30 miles + 205m climb to lunch).

    Lunch will be provided by Whistlestop Cafe at Thurstaston visitor centre, for which we will be charged £9.50 per head – payable on the day.

    …and will include the following for each person:-

    • Sandwiches of various fillings catering for both meat eaters and vegetarians
    • A selection of crisps
    • Sausage rolls and veggie rolls
    • Scone with jam and cream
    • Tea to drink ( coffee will be paid for individually on the day)

                                                  If anyone wishes to ride but self cater they need to let the leader know in advance.

    After Lunch We will be returning back to WK, up Station Road towards Thurstaston village, Irby, Arrowe Park, Irby Mill & Caldy (10 miles + 95m climb on return route to WK).

    Possible obstacles No major problems with this route, much of it is familiar to most of us, we will use cycle lanes where available and take extra care when crossing any main roads and look for pedestrian crossings / islands and traffic lights.
