This is a straightforward “D” ride along familiar roads and paths with some climbing (460 ft) but nothing too onerous. The average speed will be between 8 and 10mph and the route distance is 18.5 miles to the lunch venue.
The ride leader is Rob Holmes and the ride will start from the Red Rooms golf club building at Arrowe Park.
Meeting at 9.45am for a 10am start we will first travel through the Woodchurch Estate to join the path from New Hey Road to the Fender Valley.
Winding our way to join Prenton Hall Road close to the top of the ridge, we will have the steepest part of the ride (taking it nice and slow) to cycle over the ridge and down to Prospect Drive.
Making our way via Levers Causeway to Little Storeton, we will continue to Brimstage and then Thornton Hough where we will pause for a banana break.
After our break we will continue via Raby, Birkenhead Road and Mill Lane to Willaston, where we will join the Wirral Way at Hadlow Road Station.
Leaving the Wirral Way for Heath Lane and the Missing Link, the route will continue along Badgers Rake Lane and then Mudhouse Lane to take us through Burton Village on our way to the lunch stop : Net’s Café on Burton Marsh.
For those returning to Arrowe Park, the route will be more direct via Leighton Road, Boathouse Lane and Barnston Dale (approximately 10 miles)
