If you are an experienced rider who has ridden with other cycling groups and you would like to join us on a ride, then book onto this ride using the form below, but please telephone or email the ride leader when you receive the booking confirmation to let them know about your experience and capabilities. 
If you have not ridden with a cycling group before, and would like to find out what riding with our group is like, then please book onto one of Grade D rides which are suitable for newcomers.

If you have an underlying health condition which could flare up when cycling (such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, anaphylactic shock, heart issues, etc.), then it would be appreciated if you could disclose this to the ride leader (in confidence) prior to the start of the ride


(D) Ride and Bicycle Maintenance Workshop at Nets Cafe

      Today’s ride begins with a ride from Port Sunlight, through Birkenhead Park and Arrowe Park to Nets cafe, and includes our third Bicycle Maintenance Workshop run by the mechanics from Just Riding Along Bike Repair of Bridge Street, Neston

      At the workshop you will learn how to:

      • Do a basic bike check (the M check)
      • Remove and replace a wheel
      • Change an inner tube / repair a puncture
      • Check and, if necessary, replace a tyre
      • Check wear on a chain and decide when to replace it
      • Replace a chain
      • Check brake pad wear and replace brake pads (rim and disk)
      • Adjust rim brakes
      • Check tyre pressures
      • Check cables for wear
      • Derailleur Gear Adjustments

       

      The ride will be led by Dave Brewer starting from outside Port Sunlight Railway Station at 10:00 am and getting to Nets just after 12:00 for lunch.  The maintenance workshop will start (under cover in the barn at the side of the cafe) at 13:00.  People can make their own way to Nets, travel with Dave from Port Sunlight, or join the ride at the Birkenhead Park Visitor Centre on Park Road at 10:30 or at Red Rooms Cafe in Arrowe park at 11:00 am.  Here is the route on Komoot: Port Sunlight to Nets via Birkenhead Park and Red Rooms and on Garmin: Port Sunlight to Nets via Birkenhead and Arrowe Parks
