This is ride is open to all members of the Wirral Cycling Group, but is also suitable for people who have not previously ridden with a cycling group.  If you would like to join us on a ride, then book onto this ride using the form below, but please telephone or email the ride leader when you receive the booking confirmation to let them know about your experience and capabilities.  
Before the ride, check out the page on our website about taking part in one of our rides "Taking Part", and read the Advice from Cycling UK on riding in a group.  If you are new to riding with a group, please arrive 15 minutes before the advertised start time, so that the ride leader can brief you on how to ride safely with a group of other riders. 

If you have an underlying health condition which could flare up when cycling (such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, anaphylactic shock, heart issues, etc.), then it would be appreciated if you could disclose this to the ride leader (in confidence) prior to the start of the ride



(D) South Liverpool Parks and the Georgian Quarter (suitable for newcomers)

    Start: by the Beatles statue at the Pier Head at 11:00.  Please get there by 10:45 for the briefing

    Distance: 25 miles at Grade D.  Just one slight hill up to Woolton, but with a stop at the top to check out the view. Some cobbles as we leave the pierhead and go past the Albert Dock.

    Route: Leaving Pier Head, we make our way past Albert Dock and along the front, turning left before the Liverpool Yacht Club and onto Grafton Street, before dropping down to the Festival Site and Otterspool promenade.  At Grassendale, we continue to Cressington Park, then up to Aigburth Road. We cycle through Garston village, turn right, cycle past St Michael’s church and onto Garston Shore Road. We then ride through the Estuary Business Park and onto Speke Hall for a short stop.

    From Speke Hall, we retrace our steps and make our way towards Hunts Cross via Woodend Avenue, turning up Speke Road, past Woolton golf course and onto Woolton village. We cycle up Church Road, stopping at Reynolds Park. We then drop down to Woolton Road and cycle down Druids Cross Road and into Calderstones Park for a café stop.

    We then head along Rose Lane, to Briardale Road and Penny Lane, past  Greenbank Park, then around Sefton Park, and out by the main gates, past Belvidere school into Prince’s Park. We then head along the cycle path on Prince’s Boulevard to Parliament Street. We cross over and cycle through the Georgian Quarter before going down Duke Street, through China Town and onto the Strand for the train at James Street or the ferry at the Pier Head.
