Distance: 25 miles at Grade D. Just one slight hill up to Woolton, but with a stop at the top to check out the view. Some cobbles as we leave the pierhead and go past the Albert Dock.
Route: Leaving Pier Head, we make our way past Albert Dock and along the front, turning left before the Liverpool Yacht Club and onto Grafton Street, before dropping down to the Festival Site and Otterspool promenade. At Grassendale, we continue to Cressington Park, then up to Aigburth Road. We cycle through Garston village, turn right, cycle past St Michael’s church and onto Garston Shore Road. We then ride through the Estuary Business Park and onto Speke Hall for a short stop.
From Speke Hall, we retrace our steps and make our way towards Hunts Cross via Woodend Avenue, turning up Speke Road, past Woolton golf course and onto Woolton village. We cycle up Church Road, stopping at Reynolds Park. We then drop down to Woolton Road and cycle down Druids Cross Road and into Calderstones Park for a café stop.
We then head along Rose Lane, to Briardale Road and Penny Lane, past Greenbank Park, then around Sefton Park, and out by the main gates, past Belvidere school into Prince’s Park. We then head along the cycle path on Prince’s Boulevard to Parliament Street. We cross over and cycle through the Georgian Quarter before going down Duke Street, through China Town and onto the Strand for the train at James Street or the ferry at the Pier Head.
