Our last club century of the year, the usual 80 ish mile loop to and from the marsh with any commute used to round it up to the century (or not).
At 9am parking near the gate is easy if you just fancy the loop.
So with a Marsh Gate start/finish and a 81m loop it’s an idea to add all but your direct return distance before the ride as it’s probably not going to happen if you are short when we get back…
By all means just do the loop and bail at Chester too if you like (saves 10 miles, well unless your car is at the gate that is 🙂 saves 6 if you have to ride Hooton to the gate).
Outbound is Marshes, Dee (unless it’s againsterly) to the Saltney footbridge then Bretton, Kinnerton, Burton into Rossett and the Hwb for breakfast 17m (as this is over 1/4 distance for most). Then it’s Holt, Farndon, Shocklach, Threapwood, Hanmer, Northwood then into Whixall Marina for lunch 23m (my halfway…).
Return is Tilstock, Whitchurch, Marbury, Bickerton, Harthill (the easy way), Tattenhall to Waverton for the cakemobile 27m, then through Christleton for Pearl Lane into Chester (passing the station if required?) then onto the greenway and back to the Marsh Gate 14m.
So three proper stops, so think of it as 4 x 25m ish rides. Other snack breaks as required.
All roads I/we’ve travelled before, some areas need care when crossing or using larger roads, however fallen leaves and mud potentially everywhere is a risk too.
