Distance The ride is 23.3 miles out to Chocks Away Cafe in Broughton and will be a Grade D – C ride. With a return route back to Red Rooms of 20.2 miles. 43.5 in total. I have graded this ride because of the distances, however I will be taking it at an easier pace in order to accommodate those who do not wish to participate in  a race.

Meeting We will be meeting at Red Rooms (if you use the meeting area please have the grace to make a purchase) at 9.45 for a 10:00 depart.

Possible obstacles The route shows us going out via Landican Lane, however if this is wet and muddy we can change and go out through Pensby and Heswall before going through to Thornton Hough. We will be stopping for a break in Willaston, Hadlow Road station. When crossing the road at Dunkirk for Chester Gates,  Welsh road and along the A540 we will be using the unmarked level crossing, I will take every precaution to make it as safe as possible however you should remain alert at all times to other road users and the fast moving vehicles.

Route is available on Komoot Red Rooms to Chocks Away

Lunch will be at Chocks Away (about 12.45) which we as a group have visited on a number of times over recent years, I have informed the cafe that we are coming and they have set tables aside for us. Should you have any dietary needs then please phone the cafe and make your own individual arrangements. 01244 539205

Hazards Riding a bicycle on public roads is inherently a risk, you can mitigate those risks by being aware of other road users and anticipating their likely actions. WCG Risk assessment

After Lunch I will be returning back to Red Rooms via Saltney Ferry bridge and Burton Marshes where we will start to go our different routes home.

Trains The nearest station to Hawarden (Chocks Away) is Shotton High level that will return you to the Wirral so I would advise you to bring money for both your lunch and the train should you choose to use them. Departs Shotton at 54 min past the hour every hour.

Questions via email please to Peter Williams
