Thornton Hough to Bluebell Cafe in Barrowmore

Todays ride is a “C+” grade ride of 37 miles in total with an average speed of 13 miles per hour, so for most of the ride we can expect to be riding at about 15 miles per hour. There are no steep climbs on this ride as can be seen in the Elevation detail shown below.

We will start and finish at Thornton Hough, meeting at 9:45 for a quick debriefing and leaving at 10:00. Our journey takes us out through Raby, Willaston, Missing Link, Ledsham, Capenhurst, Dunkirk, Little Stanney, Stoak, Mickle Trafford, Guilden Sutton, Stanford Bride and Great Barrow to our lunch stop at the Bluebell cafe at Barrowmore. We can stop in Stoak for a banana break.

Leaving Barrowmore our route is through Little Barrow towards Bridge Trafford and onto Thornton Le Moors then onto the cycle path to Dunkirk retracing our journey to Heath Lane where we will turn right on to the Willaston – Hooton road, this will provide the opportunity for some members to leave the route at Eastham Rake. Our ride will continue to Thornton Hough.

Can I remind everyone to bring the necessary tools etc in order to repair your bike should this be necessary. A first aid kit is also required and hopefully never needed.

The route can be found on Garmin

The route can be found on Komoot
