A grade C ride of 48 miles led by John Hampson from Chester Station to Runcorn Hill overlooking the Mersey Valley via Delamere Forest.

Departing from outside Chester Station at 10:00 am, we will travel along the Shropshire Union Canal to Waverton, then past the Crocky Trail and Walk Mill to Tarvin, Oscroft and Kelsall and into Delamere Forest.  From Delamere we will ride up past Norley and through Crowton to the Acton Swing Bridge over the River Weaver, where we will stop for a break before climbing up to Daresbury and then down to the towpath of the Bridgewater Canal around the north of Runcorn, before ascending Runcorn Hill for superb views (weather permitting) of the Mersey Valley.  Then it is just a few hundred yards to Eposito’s by Heath Park for lunch.

After lunch we will return to Chester Station via Frodsham, Helsby, Dunham-on-the-Hill, Mickle Trafford and the Chester Greenway.
