(C) Thornton Hough to Nets Cafe via the Greenway

10:00 Sunday May 18 2025

Current Participants: 5 space(s) available

    • This is a 35 mile ride. There are no significant hills and we’ll be aiming for a steady pace of around 12mph (although we may need to be slower on the Greenway to show consideration to other users). The route is mainly on tarmac roads and cycle paths apart from a short section on the Missing Link.
    • We’ll be stopping at Nets Cafe for lunch. Most of the ride (about 30 miles) will be before lunch, with just a short section of 5 miles back to Thornton Hough afterwards. Lunch will be around 1pm.
    • Steve Downs is the ride leader. The ride will start at 10am at Thornton Hough Village Hall; please be there 10 minutes earlier for a pre-ride briefing.
    • The route will take us to Raby Mere, Hooton Station, Capenhurst, Dunkirk, then we’ll join the Greenway at Dragon Bridge. We’ll stop for a banana break at Blacon before heading along the Dee Path from Higher Ferry to Hawarden Bridge. We’ll then follow the path along Burton Marsh to Nets Cafe for lunch.
    • After lunch some riders may prefer to make their own way home. For those wishing to return to Thornton Hough, we’ll  head back along Leighton Road and The Runnel.
    • The detailed route is available on Komoot https://www.komoot.com/tour/2227502569
    • If you have any questions about the ride, please feel free to contact me by phone 0749 398 1000 or email steve.downs@wirralcycling.org
