This is a C grade ride, geared to the colder weather and shorter days at this time of year.
The total ride distance is 33 miles with an elevation gain of approximately 700 feet. The average speed will be between 10 and 12mph.
Rob Holmes is the ride leader and we will meet outside Port Sunlight railway station at 10.15 am for a 10.30 am start.
The outward journey follows a well-travelled route along the along the old Lever’s railway path, through Eastham Country Park, Eastham Village and Childer Thornton. From there it’s Heath Lane, the “Missing Link”, Ledsham Lane and Rectory Lane to Capenhurst where we will stop for a short break. From our short stop we will head along Dunkirk Lane followed by Bypass Road to join Woodbank Lane and cross the busy Welsh Road. Joining the Chester Millennium Greenway will take us across the River Dee and from there it is a short run to the cheap and cheerful Yvonne’s Café at Connah’s Quay and lunch.
The outward route can be viewed on Komoot via the link below:
For those returning to Port Sunlight, the route back is more direct via Burton Marshes, Neston, Thornton Hough and Poulton, as shown on the Komoot map link below:
