31 miles, Grade C: Bache to Utkinton via Tarporley

Grade C staring at Bache, in Morrison’s Car Park

Here is the Strava route (although we had a short diversion to Tarvin Sands cafe as the Rose Farm cafe was closed on the Monday when we did the scouting: https://www.strava.com/activities/6822774227

Leaving Bache, the route goes through Upton and onto Picton Gorse, Mickle Trafford and Guilden Sutton. Turning right/left across the A51 to Waverton, then through the villages of Hargrave and Huxley, with views of Beeston Castle and Peckforton Hill on the right. Carrying on through Brassey Green, turning left, up a small hill!, over the A49, to Tarporley, which is a pleasant town with a main street, a few pubs and cafes.

Continuing north, over the A49 (2nd time), up another 2 hills to Rose Farm Café at Utkinton.  It is well worth the effort to get to the café, which is very nice and accommodating.  There are donkeys in the adjacent field and views of the Ruabon Hills in Wales to the west.   Distance 18 miles.

Leaving the café, the route heads downhill to Willington Corner and downhill again to Tarvin. Crossing the busy A54, heading to Barrow, then the A51 (cycle track), Guilden Sutton and back along the Greenway to Bache.  Distance 13 miles.
