This ride is a loop from Hooton, starting with the normal ‘commute’ to the River Dee, crossing over at the Railway Bridge at Hawarden then along the coast before climbing into the hills. The route has been chosen to mimic some of the climbs on the Way of the Roses ride. The full route is 56 miles and around 2080 foot of climb according to Garmin website, parts of the route match 4 of the 10 WotR climbs for both distance and ascent, and so will hopefully give riders a feel for what they will encounter. Lunch is at Betty Berkin’s cafe near Pentre Halkyn.
