The route goes down through Burton to the marsh gates along the Greenway and the river to the Saltney Bridge. There is a climb up Sandy Lane to Penyfford, but it is quite manageable. Lunch is at the lovely Jemoleys cafe at a distance of 21 miles. The return route runs down through Hawarden, back over the Saltney Bridge to the Greenway and the marsh gates then up Denhall Lane before returning to Hooton through Burton village.
