This is a grade C ride of just under 45 miles starting from outside Chester Railway Station
Route on Komoot: Chester to Northwich
The route goes out from Chester along the Shropshire Union Canal towpath as far as Christleton and then across the tiny (often muddy) path and bridges at Hockenhull Platts to Tarvin and on to Oscroft. Then a long slow climb up to Willington, before going on through Utkinton, Cotebrook and Little Budworth to join the Whitegate Way, where we will stop for a quick snack. At the end of the Whitegate Way the route travels beside the Weaver Navigation Canal, past Vale Royal Locks, leaving the canal at Hunts Lock and going up to Greenbank and Gorstage. Then a bit of a steep climb into Norley and through Hatchmere before stopping for lunch at the Delamere Station House cafe.
After lunch the return to Chester station goes through Delamere Forest, past the Gruffalo and to Mouldsworth and then up and down the last hill before both Bridge and Mickle Traffords and the final stretch along the Greenway.
